Fargo 44230 Color Ribbon - YMCKO - 250 prints Details

Genuine Fargo 44230 YMCKO color ribbons are used to print single-sided full-color cards with black resin text or barcodes and a clear overlay (protective layer) over the entire card.

On the front side of the card:

  • Y - yellow panel
  • M - magenta panel
  • C - cyan panel
  • K - black resin panel
  • O - overlay panel

Fargo card printers require specialized Fargo ribbons to function properly. To maximize printed card quality and printer durability, use only genuine Fargo 44230 YMCKO ribbons.

Fargo 44230 ribbon kits include a cleaning roller to ensure optimal daily printing. Fargo recommends cleaning your printer after each ribbon change.

Did you know that Fargo 44230 ribbons have a shelf life?

Dye-sublimation ribbons typically have a shelf life of up to one year, when stored under the proper conditions. Ribbons that are not properly stored, and are more than one year old, will not print optimally and will likely end up costing more in maintenance and more money in reprinting cards.

How to find the shelf life of your color ribbon?

One of the ribbons that we purchased snapped. When I called to get a new one they told me to put Scotch tape and tape together. I didnt think that this would work, but it did. Im not sure if this is a good thing that there is a quick fix, or a bad thing that this happends. But from what the person on the phone said, it is very common.

Merchant response:Thank you for taking the time to review the Fargo 44230 ribbon. When a dye-sublimation ribbon tears, you can usually repair it by simply taping the ribbon back together. However, there are some easy ways to prevent future breakage:
1. Clean and calibrate your printer. Cleaning your printer with each ribbon change is recommended by all card printer manufacturers, including Fargo. Cleaning kits are easy-to-use and are generally very inexpensive. After cleaning, you can recalibrate your printer within the driver.
2. Trying to print too close to the edge of your cards will cause your 44200 ribbon to snap. Check your card design within your card software program to ensure the margins are set to print within the card boundaries. If necessary, increase the unprinted border.
3. Restore your printer to its default settings. Sometimes, changing settings in your printer driver can cause the ribbons to overheat. This is commonly the case if users are trying to get darker, richer colors on printed cards. Restore settings back to the default settings within your printer driver.
